30 Weeks' Notes

  • Luke moves a lot and kicks me if he doesn't like what position I'm in!
  • Felt him have hiccups...so cute!
  • Baby shower is this weekend -- really excited!
  • Physical activity = difficult!!!
  • Shortness of breath, flushing/hot flashes
  • Have to pee all the time!
  • Ankles swell when I don't drink enough
  • Hard to sit up from reclining position
  • Stretch marks
  • Difficulty getting comfortable during sleep
  • Tired early (7:30 - 8:00)
  • Eating multiple breakfasts
  • A bit moody and more bold with what I say!
  • Ready to meet Luke, want him here now
  • Starting childbirth classes Sept 7th
  • Getting to work, working, and getting home from work becoming incredibly tiresome and annoying...wondering how soon I can start my maternity leave and get away with it.
  • Sick of people saying I either look huge or look small. Just say I look pregnant and let's call it a day.
  • Trying to find work clothes that fit properly and are appropriate for what I do is increasingly hard. Ready to give up and just wear maternity tees and stretchy black skirt every single day.
  • Tried wearing closed-toe shoes all day and that was a nightmare -- Birkenstocks, you are here to stay till Oct 30th, for sure.
  • Watched childbirth video quickly on internet this morning and felt kind of queasy...hope I can handle all this when the time comes.
  • Still can't believe this is happening!
Picture to come later!

28 Weeks - 3rd Trimester!

We finally made it to the last trimester!!! Feeling pretty good; definitely different, though. It is a bit harder to move around and the extra weight makes it harder to do most physical things. The air quality and heat are contributing to that.

Luke is very active now and lets me know every time he is moving! I just took the gestational diabetes test last week and had a checkup. I am in the high range for weight gain for 28 weeks, so I have to watch that as time marches on. The heat wave of 90's and 100's is not making exercise an option, so it is a lot of days of sitting indoors in the a/c with a glass of ice water. We still get outside to do tours at work, so that is some exercise I am able to achieve.

We have most of the major things Luke will need and are struggling to find a place to put it all. We have been incredibly blessed by donations and good deals at Target, and getting him what he needs was easier than we thought. Now if we can just figure out how to use it all!

August is the month of my baby shower, which I am very excited about. September will bring childbirth classes, a hospital tour, and hopefully cooler weather!

27 weeks

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

26 weeks

This was actually taken on July 26th, but I have been busy and haven't had a chance to upload it. This is at my work in the Farmer's Garden.
