39 Weeks

I haven't updated in awhile, so here goes...
  • Less appetite
  • Impatient to have baby here
  • Couldn't possibly find any more space to store donated baby clothing (thank you, everyone, though!)
  • A little restless
  • Eager to do what I can to move things along
  • More energy
  • Easier sleeping (not sure why?)
Baby Luke has "dropped", I assume...because people are telling me it sounds like he has by my symptoms as of late, but I still can't tell the difference. I saw the Doctor on Monday and there is no progress as of yet dilation-wise. I was actually a -1, he said. But I am not due till Saturday, so it isn't that shocking. Everything looks good and it was a quick visit. We talked about an induction date since that is protocol for everyone just in case they don't go into labor when they are supposed to. Down here, they only let you go 1 week past your due date and then they have you come in to be induced. I wasn't aware of this! So our induction date would be November 9th at 7 a.m. But we are going to have this baby before that can happen, right? RIGHT. I am not crazy about forcing my body into labor using drugs. >:-(

This Friday I will have an ultrasound to see what's going on in there. Matt will be able to come to this visit, which is great, and we should learn much more about Luke's positioning and progress at that point.

For now I am learning all about helping labor along and what I can do to jump-start things. If he doesn't come by this Sunday the 31st, I am definitely going to our church's Fall Fest that night and walking around until I drop. I planned on not going because I was in a different mindset before (scared of bringing on labor/too fatigued to push myself to do anything physical), but now I definitely want to go and wear this baby out (to a point, of course). He's coming outta there naturally if I have anything to say about it!! We will have our bags packed and in the car, of course. :)

(Sorry, no picture because I don't feel like taking one and besides, just imagine me with a huge beach ball belly!)

Ready and Waiting

Here is his wall with all his things set up and waiting for him to arrive! It is a little cluttered, but functional.

Changing table with loads of diapers that we will probably burn through in a few months (or weeks)

Shelves with bedtime books (never hurts to read early?), supplies, socks, and clothes

 Bassinet with new blue sheet

Diaper bag and hospital bag pretty much ready to go

36 Weeks

  • Luke's Weight: approx 5-6 lbs.
  • Luke's Length: 19-20 inches
  • Heartbeat sounds good
  • Mom's blood pressure: 110/60 (yay!)
  • Mom's weight gain: perfect (said the Doctor!)
  • Beta Strep Test taken today to determine if I am a carrier

Having trouble being comfortable while sleeping (obviously!). I have lower back pain whenever I bend over or try to do something STUPID, like move stuff around or pick up the dumb cat. LOL. Matt gave me a talking-to on this. I will be asking him for more help...

Lots of movement from the little one at this point. I don't really feel that it has decreased like it is supposed do, but maybe I just have a hyper-active baby. He gets the cutest hiccups (as cute as in-utero hiccups can be) quite often (daily?) and I wish there were something I could do to get them to stop for him.

I am enjoying being on maternity leave and having time to THINK and process what's going on rather than being hurried and stressed about work.

The weather has cooled down lately to a perfect 65 degrees which makes my last stretch of pregnancy so much more bearable. Short walks are being taken again, and, though I can't go far, it is better than nothing!

Now to get Luke's "room" cleaned up. It looks like a bomb hit it! :)
