September Happenings

Dear Luke,

You have changed in leaps and bounds this month!! You have been
standing on your own for up to 10-15 seconds at a time, which makes me
so amazed! You also have been learning lots of words and responding to
them. You know doggie, kitkit, Grampy, Grammy, Mama, Dada, book, food,
hungry, careful, NO NO, sleep, and many others. You are so much more
adventurous now and I let you roam quite a bit to get an idea of the
world. You love to find Grampy whenever we go out into the main house.
Sometimes you even try to climb the stairs, and with my help of
spotting you, you get all the way to the top on your own. I am not
sure I like this!! You play peek-a-boo with the mirror. You are also
eating lots of new grown-up foods and last night you kept begging me
for some rotisserie chicken!! Animal cracker bits are your fave at
snack-time.

You are always cracking us up! You make lots of "ham" faces and always
laugh when me and dada do something funny. It cracks me up how adult
you act sometimes by sitting and reading a book to yourself. You
really are just flipping through pages slowly, looking at all the
pictures, but you look so serious it makes me smile!

You crawl at lightning speed and are intent on getting where you want
to go--NOW!

Your doctor said you were in the 30-th percentile for weight and 75-th
for height. You are about 20 lbs right now.

We still go for daily walks down the road since fall in Vermont has
been very warm lately. Today it is going to be in the high 70's which
is unusual for here. I like to give you pieces of plants or flowers to
hold and inspect, and you love that. You are very observant when we
are outside, which is great, because I want you to take in all of
God's beautiful Creation. He sends butterflies floating past your
stroller and you love watching them dance in the air. I show you the
cows and horses at the farm down the road and you smile big and just
stare and stare.

Well, that is all for now, my dear!

Love you,
Mama

August Days

Dear Luke,

This month has been full of warm summer days and lots of outdoor time. We hang out outside our apartment near the woods almost every day, and go for a daily walk down the country roads. We stop and turn around when we reach the pond. It takes us about 40 minutes total, and you look around until you can't stand it anymore and then you fall asleep! Then you play inside in the living room where all your toys are. You try to grab the cat (Kit Kit), but she won't have it. She is good, though, and doesn't claw you, thank goodness. You like to watch out the screen window to see what's going on in the woods. Lots of birds to look at and a chipmunk that hangs around under our feeder.

This month had in it Gramere's birthday and Great Gramere's birthday. Two special ladies! We just had a big hurricane (Irene).

Here are some photos of your typical days here:
